Special thanks to Walt Manis of Moving Works for allowing us to share this video. Moving Works is a non-profit film-making ministry that partners with the Body of Christ to document and share short stories featuring Japanese people being transformed by Jesus Christ.
Our church office and preschool will be closed on Thursday August 23 and Friday August 24 due to Hurricane Lane. Worship services will be held as scheduled this Sunday August 26, and our office will reopen on Monday August 27. All events and meetings scheduled for Thursday through Saturday are canceled, with the exception of our church's Next Step Shelter participation this Saturday. We are waiting for the Shelter's decision on whether they will remain open or will be forced to temporarily relocate their residents away from the coastline. Volunteers will be informed as soon as word is received. Stay safe, and pray for each other's safety, including the safety of our Next Step Shelter neighbors!

We learn something each year about packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Stuffed animals/toys are very popular with children of all ages. If you have bought pencils/pens, include a notebook or notepad. Please include in your shoe boxes: • Age appropriate toothbrush and toothpaste. • Ivory Bar Soap(double bagged) and wash cloth (While you may have small bars of hotel soaps from your travels, please do not include these type of bar soaps) • Comb and or brush • Hard candy that are individually wrapped. (Lollipops, gum are OK, too). Double bag the candy. Please no out of date items. With the travel time to reach their destination, we want to make sure that the items have a longer shelf life. No gummy candy, chews. • Age appropriate school supplies (Pencils/w sharpeners, pens, crayons, markers, writing paper) Coloring books and picture books for younger children are good. • Age appropriate small toys (new): cars, balls, stuffed animals, yoyos, jump rope (Have a child of the same age help you select the toys). • Other things that can be included: flashlight w/ extra batteries, socks, ball caps, jewelry, hair clips, sun glasses, small pocket games(include xtra batteries, if required), t shirt. Any clothing should be new – not used. • If you are able, include $7 for shipping. Making your $7 donation on line is very helpful/useful. It will also allow you to track the country where your shoebox is sent. Checks should be payable to Samaritan’s Purse. Place envelope in the shoebox at the top. WHAT NOT TO INCLUDE: War related toys, used toys, action figure toys. (Disney OK) FOOD – NO chocolate, cereal, cookies. NO LIQUIDS of any kind (these include hand sanitizers, lotions, body wash, bubbles), breakable items. No toys from Kid’s Meal Fast Food. DO NOT SEAL THE BOXES. We will provide a rubber band to hold the box together. Each box is checked before it is taken to the drop off centers. They are again checked at the processing centers before leaving for their final destination. Packing your shoe boxes with the appropriate items would expedite the whole process. Place the Girl/Boy strip at the TOP OR BOTTOM. (Not in the MIDDLE). After final inspection, boxes are sealed at the center. Any questions, please contact Barb Okabayashi @ [email protected] or 222-3091 DEADLINE FOR FILLED BOXES IS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1st ONE SHOEBOX = ONE LIFE = ONE SALVATION
